And they’re particularly susceptible to the elements in the damp British climate. What happens to the hood?

Regardless of make/model/year, the  material of your vehicle soft top gets worn and fades with age if not maintained. Fabric hoods can quite easily become mouldy, especially if not fully dry when folded away. Prolonged exposure to the elements can also cause the material to shrink. In addition, the rubber weatherstripping can dry out and become brittle. And the rear window, usually made from plastic is easy top scratch and can even become cloudy over time. Even modern soft-tops, which are usually chemically treated for waterproofing effect, lose this coating over time which can lead to staining and colour loss.

So there’s a lot that can go wrong with your car hood and all these issues make the vehicle look old and unsightly.

Luckily our skilled hood technicians at our workshop in Thatcham, Berkshire will address all manner of hood problems, such as:

This stunning Porsche 356 came in with a fault to the hood operation. After some investigation the front header rail was found to be broken despite some questionable repairs by someone previously attempting a quick fix. Customer himself took care of the repair with some new ash grafted in and we were then able to refit the hood so it all now operates properly.
